YWCA On-Line Auction Guidelines

1. At any given time, there may be one (or more) items listed for auction on the YWCA website; www.ywcapeterborough.org. To view current auction item(s), click on the YWCA On-Line Christmas Auction link on the homepage on the website to be directed to the YWCA On-Line Christmas Auction page.

2. Auction items can be viewed in person by appointment Monday - Friday, from 9am – 3pm.

3. To participate in any YWCA Auction, you must have a Bidder ID which can be obtained by calling Penny at 743-3526 or emailing
pkemp@ywcapeterborough.org.

4. Bidding increments will be $1.00 or more.

5. Bids may be placed by phone (743-3526 ext. 116), in person or by *e-mail to Penny Kemp
(pkemp@ywcapeterborough.org). *Please note that bidders are responsible for getting bids in by closing time. If you are e-mailing a bid close to the end of the auction, please be aware that servers can be slow and your bid may not be received in time. The YWCA is not responsible for any bids not received in time.

6. Staff involved in the running of the auction will be able to participate in the auction but under the following guidelines:

a. Staff involved in running the auction must submit their highest bid at the beginning of the auction to Julie Thomson, Executive Assistant or Margaret Soles, Administrative Assistant.

b. Highest bids will be submitted in sealed envelopes and will only be opened at the end of the auction.

c. Staff involved in running the auction will acknowledge that they cannot submit another highest bid(s) or alter their initial bid(s) at any time after the auction has opened.

d. If one or more sealed bids are for the same value, the participants who submitted the sealed bids will be asked to submit another sealed bid until the highest bid is achieved.

7. The last day to collect and/or pay for items from a YWCA auction will be 31 days after the auction closes.

8. Payment for auction items must be made prior to this deadline (this includes post-dated cheques). Auction items can be paid for by cash, cheque or credit card at the front desk of the YWCA administration office, 216 Simcoe St., Peterborough.

9. If the 31-day deadline passes and auction item(s) is still not collected or paid for, the person who was the 2nd highest bidder will be contacted and asked if they are still interested in the item. If item isn’t claimed by the 2nd highest bidder, the auction item(s) will remain the property of the YWCA.

10. Auction item(s) whose value is less than $50 may be removed from the YWCA premises prior to payment ONLY after the item(s) have been signed out by YWCA Resource Development staff in the Resource Development Item Sign Out book. Auction item(s) are not to be removed from the YWCA auction premises until item(s) are paid for if the value exceeds $50.
