The Freedom Walk is an annual walk-a-thon that invites the community
to participate by walking to raise money and awareness of domestic
violence. Over the past 11 years, the Freedom Walk has raised more than
$415,000 to support our Crossroads Shelter and Food Action programs.

Join us on May 1st at Nicholl's Oval Park and walk the beautiful
Rotary Greenway Trail. Come out by yourself or as a team with friends,
family or co-workers. Raise pledges and get ready to walk.

Give a Gift in
Honour of Mom this Mother's Day
|
The YWCA of Peterborough,
Victoria and Haliburton has partnered with Sears to offer a
Gift Registry specifically designed for the new Crossroads Safe Haven
Shelter. This spring, consider giving your Mom a gift that goes beyond
flowers and chocolates – a gift that will help local women in crisis.
By purchasing an item from the YWCA Crossroads Gift Registry, you’re
giving more than a toaster or towel – these small gifts will ensure that
local women, many of whom have had to leave their belongings behind,
will have a warm, home-like sanctuary to turn to when they need it most.
You
can visit Sears in person at Lansdowne Place or online at
www.giftregistry.sears.ca
(registry # 200933406135) to view the complete YWCA Crossroads Gift
Registry.
Please note that in honour of Crossroads, the prices you see have been
further reduced by Sears to ensure that your contribution helps as many
women and children as possible.
Not sure what to choose? Consider a gift card in the amount of your
choice.
For more information about the YWCA Crossroads Gift Registry, please
call Julie at 705-743-3526 ext. 109.

Walk A Mile In Her
Shoes
|
You can now register and collect pledges online by visiting the
2010 Walk A Mile In Her
Shoes website.
There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's
experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." On Friday May
7th, 2010, the YWCA asks men to literally walk one mile in women's
high-heeled shoes by participating in the 2nd annual Walk A Mile In Her
Shoes event. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it’s fun and it
gets the community to talk about something that's really difficult to
discuss: the abuse and violence directed at women and their children in
our community.
