The way we provide service is as important as what we provide. We
respond to each woman according to her needs. All counselling and
support services are free, confidential, respectful and woman-centered.

If you call the Crisis Line, this number will not appear on your
telephone bill or on your call display. We will not know where you are
calling from unless you tell us.
Crisis & Support Counselling
We listen to and support women who are living in - or
wondering about leaving - an abusive situation. We offer counselling and
support women to establish their violence-free lives.

- You are unsure if your relationship is healthy.
- You are wondering what to do or what can be done.
- You would like to create a safety plan for you and your family.
- You are looking for counselling to understand the effects of
abuse on you and your children.
- You would like staff support to go to legal and court
appointments.
- You would like counsellors to provide more information and
referrals to other community and social services.
Counsellors are available by appointment during office hours.
Our confidential services include:

Crisis counselling – by phone or in person
- Help with accessing emergency accommodations
- Emergency transportation to safety
- Planning for safety and/or change
- Housing search support
- Referrals to job training, education, counselling
- Accompaniment to appointments
- Court support
- Home visits or flexible meeting arrangements
Women's Counselling & Well-Being Program
Many women have experienced abuse in their childhood and in adult
relationships and want to understand the effects and learn about healthy
relationship.

The Women’s Counselling and Well Being Program is jointly sponsored by the YWCA and the
Women’s Health Care Centre,
Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Counsellors are available by appointment during office hours.
