Special Events

YWCA Tag Days

The YWCA holds a Tag Day fundraiser 5 times a year. Our dedicated volunteers stand outside local businesses for 2 ½ hours and collect donations while handing out service cards. All money raised from Tag Day events support our Crossroads shelter. The 2009 schedule for Tag Days is as follows:

February 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th

On December 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, the YWCA held the December Tag Days fundraiser. Although the weather was blustery and freezing, it didn’t stop the many volunteers from coming out and supporting us in raising over $7,000!  Thank you to all the taggers, drivers and food donors and all the local businesses who allowed the volunteers to stand outside their stores to collect donations.”

- Penny Kemp, Special Events Worker

For more information about Tag Days, call the Special Events Worker at 705-743-3526, ext. 118 or to volunteer for Tag Days, call our Volunteer Coordinator at 705-743-3526, ext. 105 or email hmead@ywcapeterborough.org.

YWCA Freedom Walk

The Freedom Walk is a walk-a-thon that invites the community to participate by walking to raise money and awareness of domestic violence. Over the past 9 years, the Freedom Walk has raised more than $318,000.00 to support our Crossroads shelter and Food Action programs. Participants have their choice of a 2km, 5km or a 10km walk. The 2009 Freedom Walk will start in Nicholl’s Oval and proceed down the Rotary Greenway Trail. After the walk, the participants can enjoy music, face painting and a BBQ!

Location, Location, Location!

Join us Saturday May 2nd, 2009 for the YWCA Freedom Walk at Nicholl's Oval Park and walk the beautiful Rotary Greenway Trail! Come out by yourself or as a team with friends, family or co-workers. Raise pledges and get ready to walk.

Third Party Events

A great way to support the YWCA is to donate the proceeds of an event that you run. Friends in the community raise money in many different ways. Fashion shows, coffee houses, musicals, plays and even garage sales. Let us know about your event and we can help you promote it!
