Women’s Safety Network and Transitional Housing and Support Programs

The Women’s Safety Network and Transitional Housing and Support Programs are available to all women in Peterborough City and County and Haliburton County.

Women's Safety Network (WSN)This part of the YWCA's Turning Point Programs for Women

We listen to and support women and their children who are living in - or wondering about leaving - an abusive relationship.

Call if:

  • You are unsure if your relationship is healthy
  • You are wondering what to do or what can be done
  • You are looking for counselling to understand the effects of abuse

Transitional Housing and Support Programs (THSP)

We offer longer term counselling to support women and their children to establish their violence-free lives in the community.

Call if:

  • You want ongoing support and counselling to deal with the effects of living with abuse
  • You want staff support to go to legal and court appointments
  • You would like counsellors to provide more information and referrals to other community and social services

Our confidential services include:

  • Crisis counselling – by phone or in person
  • 24 hour toll free phone line
  • Safety Planning
  • Help with accessing emergency accommodations
  • Emergency transportation to safety
  • Planning for safety and/or change
  • Housing search support
  • Referrals to job training, education, counselling
  • Accompaniment to appointments
  • Court support
  • Home visits or flexible meeting arrangements
  • Support groups

All locations are accessible by telephone,  toll free, and are TTY accessible.

We do not have call display and this number will not show up on your telephone display. The  1-800 # will not show up on your telephone bill.
